Metro Atlanta Association of Grant Professionals Meeting Minutes July 24, 2007 Present: Danny Blitch, David Bridges, Cathy Brown, Teresa Crosby, Amanda Day, Sonja Fillingame, Tanikia Jackson, Jessica Pater, Nell Patterson Next meeting: August 28, 2007; 10:00, GTRI I. Old Business- The minutes from the June meeting were unanimously accepted
II. New Business- David gave us a status report about what was happening with the National Office and brought everyone AAGP goodies.
- Danny’s Birthday was celebrated with a very delicious cake that Amanda brought in. Thank you Amanda and Happy Birthday Danny!
- Danny talked to the group about what functionalities of the website were coming and currently available. He asked us to send him information that we wanted published to the website or suggestions about the website.
- Amanda further discussed the Grant Professional Certification. There are further actions needed; a letter from MAAGP voicing our groups concerns to GPCI
- Subcommittees were tasked to report each month on the activities that took place between meetings.
- The programming committee shared that Representative Phil Gingrey was hosting a “Grants Supermarket” August 8th.
- We had two guest speakers at the meeting:
- Michael Parker and Jami Leverett from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency
- Michelle Vincent from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division
- Both speakers spoke about how grants were allocated and handled within their respective agencies. They also spoke to what type of grant proposals were “successful” within their organizations, what elements they viewed as beneficial. They also spoke about the management of projects once they were funded out of their offices.
